Carl Auböck Architekt (1924-1993)

Gestalten der Modernen Welt. Design for Modern Living

This publication is the first to present the life's work of the architect and designer Carl Auböck (1924-1993). His special attention to craftsmanship, but also his knowledge in the field of prefabrication, the combination of design, architecture and interior design make him a unique representative of Austrian architecture after 1945. There are few comparable architects and designers who have produced such a wealth of very different creative works with a strong contextual connection.

Description

Carl Auböck’s great personal commitment in the field of industrial design, who always promoted the marketability of his students’ products alongside the realisation of his own work, certainly made him a pioneer in Austria. Carl Auböck’s activities as a consultant in developing countries, where he was actively involved in specific product developments, are also particularly worthy of mention. The example of Carl Auböck should also bring into focus the historical significance of architecture and design in the 1960s and 1970s, a period that has not yet been fully explored.

With texts by Carl Auböck (1924-93), Carl Auböck (*1954), Eduard Sekler, Charlotte Blauensteiner, Günther Buchinger, Isabella Marboe, Maria Welzig, Walter Chramosta, Marion Kuzmany and Karin Hirschberger
