The symposium assembles international experts from the realms of architecture, planning, civil society, administration and politics. There are lessons to be learned from current examples of best practice for the development of neighbourhoods in Vienna.

Measures against climate change and for climate adaptation do not end on the boundaries of a building. Conserving resources, alternative energy concepts, the economical use of land, new ways of living and intelligent mobility require concepts on a neighbourhood scale. How do lively localities develop with short distances, greater mixes and better quality outdoor space instead of urban heat? How can urban growth contribute positively to the environment? And how can we build such a city together? Social and climate-friendly cities need the inspired cooperation of everyone involved to ensure, together, that what develops is not just another settlement but a sustainable city.
