The striking and highly visible high-rise has been positioned in the middle of the former Simmering village centre as if on a tailor’s pattern of the history of the working class district. The junction at which the Ostbahn regional railway, Simmeringer Hauptstrasse and the U-3 metro meet lends the housing development a virulent quality to its circulation. A new landmark for orientation beyond the Gasometer that promises good developments for the future of the city periphery.

In Liesing a better view has long been intrinsic to the better way of life there. On plot D, ‘In der Wiesen Nord’, Boris Podrecca has concentrated on the flair of urban qualities: A residential tower block marks the entrance to the grounds. The outer severity of the street-facing block of homes softens to Mediterranean levity inside: piazzas, deck access and terraces. A landscaped courtyard with a meadow and a little pond invites the users to rest under the trees of a sunny biotope.
