Probably one of the most interesting examples of parasitic urban architecture is in the form of a row of Portakabins with ‘ledged’ structures on and above the level of the 4-lane road provided by the Fluc_2 at Praterstern in Vienna. Offentlichkeit für die Wissenschaft (Public Scientists) and their audience are creating the Galerie der Forschung (Research Gallery) in the Alte Aula, and opening onto Wollzeile in the centre of Vienna with the entrance forecourt as a stage towards the city.

The aura of the existing building remains skilfully conserved, but with structural improvements and sensitive interventions. Another variation of new structures within historic substance is provided by sophisticated extending elements at the ambulance station in Hernals.
