EOOS is one of the groups of young Austrian designers that recently managed to attract a lot of attention with awards and prizes for furniture and product design. EOOS is a well-coordinated trio which combines professional handling when carrying out industrial contracts and the inquisitive attitude which underlies its designs.

“You can sell with poetry. Enterprises must assume their cultural responsabilities!”

The widely diversified interests of this successful group concentrates particularly on archaic remains even of non-European cultures whose images, rituals, and motifs have been partially preserved and are brought to life again with a very contemporary design by EOOS.
This intensive and associative work leads to “research objects” that do not inevitably need to be industrially adapted. Yet they serve as an important instrument for investigating the qualities, moods, and meanings of forms, colours, functions, and materials in order to develop new, modern interpretations.

“People who live with objects deprived of poetry are doomed to become mere decorative objects themselves”.

The EOOS struggle against platitude and indifference is acknowledged through international and Austrian awards, such as the Grand Prix of the international press at the 1996/97 furniture exhibition in Paris.
