The long-standing knowledge that children (and adults) learn best when they are able to engage in physical activity, non-hierarchical communication and contact with nature is now also reflected in the construction of new schools.

Two of the most interesting Viennese examples of this new concept for schools will open their glass doors in May: the Bundesschule Aspern school by fasch&fuchs.architekten, selected as one of 40 European buildings for the shortlist of the current Mies van der Rohe Award, and the Berresgasse urban education campus by PSLA Architekten. Both facilities are also central locations in these new urban development areas.
