Bahnhof Wien – Europa Mitte (Vienna Station – Europe Central) is to replace Vienna’s south and east stations in the future. A competition has been held and work on the master plan is underway.

Praterstern: the initial demolition work has already started, construction is about to commence on the new S-Bahn station.

Westbahnhof: the first phase of the redevelopment is scheduled for 2005. Nordbahnhof: 1,400 homes are planned for one of the largest inner-city development zones.

Bahnhof Wien Mitte: the new functional zoning for the entire area has been completed.

Aspanggründe: a competition for the first construction phase of the former freight transit depot is being launched in October.

A great deal is happening on railway property in Vienna, providing interesting potential for development of the urban landscape. What is the current state of planning exactly for the different areas and planned functions? What is being coordinated in the background by the local authorities and by the ÖBB? How do the individual stations interconnect and what are the considerations on the development of the urban fabric?

A panel discussion with experts provides insights into the numerous planning projects.
