Concrete is one of the most widely used building materials worldwide – and at the same time responsible for around 9% of global CO₂ emissions. Where is the use of concrete still sensible or unavoidable, and how can its ecological footprint be improved? The symposium brings together experts from research, planning and architecture to discuss new approaches to working with concrete. The focus is on innovative material developments, resource-saving construction methods, successful new buildings and exemplary transformations. The event will conclude with a panel discussion on the potential, contradictions and future prospects of this controversial building material.
