The Beauty of the Detail

Sat 25.10.1997 – Sat 01.11.1997

Event – Book presentation – Minimal exhibition
Jan Turnovsky was a highly committed and unorthodox assistant at the Institute for Housing of the Vienna Technical University for Professor Gieselmann and head of the institute as of 1995. During this time his work left its mark on the minds of an entire generation of young architects.
His profound knowledge of literature, philosophy, architecture and his creativity have become manifest in his book “Die Poetik eines Mauervorsprungs”, which has already been out of print and therefore unavailable for quite some time. The Architekturzentrum Wien has been successful in initiating the printing of a new edition.

Die Poetik eines Mauervorsprungs
Special print, 132 pages, 1997
Bauwelt Fundamente, Vieweg Verlag
Edited by Ulrich Conrads and Peter Neitzke
“A book in which a subject matter is initially presented with deceptive simplicity and then slowly but surely gains numerous other dimensions. His status within the hierarchy of building elements has changed, his nobility however is based on the significance of the questions posed and the number of issues touched on.” (F. Lesák)
Friedrich Achleitner will speak on the book:

Minimalausstellung
The presentation by GANGART will reveal details from the archives. This is intended to stimulate future scientific work.
