The Assemblage Niklas Eslarn cooperative housing project was conceived based on the belief that people with many different origins can enrich one another's lives. In the low-density residential area east of Seestadt, this vision manifests architecturally in seven buildings. RfM Räume für Menschen developed three of them as timber structures, while SK Stadtplanung und Architektur designed four solid-core buildings made of Ziegelit.

The use of sustainable materials is one of the outstanding features: prefabricated timber components and timber façades, straw as insulation, or clay plaster over reed stucco are rarely found in subsidised housing. In addition, with 31 subsidised rental apartments, guest apartments, starter apartments for integration, a community centre, and the Speisen ohne Grenzen (food without borders) restaurant, the project has set itself the goal of forming a supportive community for people from a wide variety of backgrounds — going beyond merely affordable housing.
