Roofs, bridges, and buildings need to be sturdy — so they don’t fall on our us. Why do bridges come in such different shapes? Which of these shapes are particularly stable? We’ll get to the bottom of these questions together in the workshop by testing the structural stability using our own bodies and conducting load tests with models we build ourselves. We also explore some bridges in the city together, hopping across the pontoon bridge to the Danube Island and ascertaining just how stable sandcastles really are in the Venediger Au. Back at the Architekturzentrum Wien, we build our own bridges on a 1:1 scale and get to know clay as a building material. The workshop promotes imagination, spatial thinking and teamwork, and is ideal for curious children who are keen to build, experiment, and discover architecture with all their senses.
