The federal chamber of architects and engineering consultants is holding a panel discussion in collaboration with the Architekturzentrum Wien on the topical subject of architecture and sustainable building. In an introductory statement the issue of who bears the responsibility for sustainable building is to be addressed, among other issues. Following further brief addresses by experts, the public is invited to discuss, among others, the following issues:
Does environmentally friendly building present a chance for a new architecture? To what extent is this influencing architects? Is the issue of sustainability the civil engineer’s responsibility? Can architectural standards of quality be maintained? Does Austria merit its reputation as playing a pioneering role in sustainable building? Are legal measures like the recently introduced technological initiatives by the City of Vienna suited to the promotion of sustainable building?

The panel discussion is part of a series of further events addressing the topic by the committee for sustainablity, bAIK Ausschuss Nachhaltigkeit.
