Hans Hollein is the first (and so far the only) Austrian to have received the Pritzker Prize. As an architect, but also as a designer, object artist, exhibition maker and architecture theorist he has written architectural history.

His innovative exhibition concepts, his visionary concepts for urban development, the extravagant objects he created, but above all his buildings shape the image of the exceptional personality that is Hans Hollein.

Starting with the tiny Retti candle shop and continuing with exclusive boutiques and villas, it was above all his museum in Mönchengladbach that made the international architecture world sit up and take notice of Hans Hollein. With this building he set new standards in museum design and it was followed by numerous further museum projects such as the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt or the “Vulcania” volcano museum in the Auvergne. This list of his achievements could be continued at length.

Hans Hollein celebrates his 80th birthday on 30.03. – we congratulate him and celebrate!
