Evangelical Church – Haus Schömer – New Exhibition House of the Essl Collection

The original idea of finding a depot for their collection of Austrian painting produced after 1945, and adapting it accordingly, could not be realised. However, the construction of a building in Klosterneuburg broadened the pinnacle in the co-operation of the collector pair Essl with the architect Heinz Tesar. Tour 50 will show, in addition to the two known results of this symbiosis, the museum opened on November 4th 1999. Anniversary cocktails provided courtesy of the Essl collection.
