“…It is no help if the fridge orders ten more cans of chilli and there are no paper rolls left. If, then, the apartment of the future is not supposed to be an extension of the street where delivery personnel have access, solutions have to be found in the floor plan. The simplest is to situate lockers next to the front door. Delivery personnel lay the goods inside, the resident removes them. How inelegant this method is in comparison to a fridge that orders milk via e-mail is shown when one realises that the toothpaste is outside while standing in front of the basin. It is reminiscent of times when water still had to be fetched from the stairwell. For this reason, at least in new buildings the lockers will be integrated in such a way that they can be opened from both sides. A logical functional consequence…”
