A cooperation by the Danish Embassy in Vienna with the Az W to mark the Theophil Hansen anniversary year

Welcome address: Dietmar Steiner, director of the Az WLecture: Kai-Uwe Bergmann, partner of the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG): Hedonistic Sustainability

The Architekturzentrum Wien is taking the 200th anniversary of Theophil Hansen as an opportunity to cast a glimpse at contemporary Danish architecture: Kai-Uwe Bergmann presents the work of one of the key Danish architecture offices in the field of architecture and design, urbanism, research and development, with premises in Copenhagen and New York.

BIG is best known for the striking housing development 8tallet (8 House) in Ørestad — the Superkilen park in Copenhagen is one of four shortlisted projects for the Mies van der Rohe Awards 2013. BIG’s first project in New York — the pyramid-like West 57 housing project — is to be completed in 2015.
