The functions of a city

The Architekturzentrum Wien is converted into a mini-city in which we ourselves become architects, town planners, builders of bridges or roads. At the same time we look at the history of urban development, compare urban structures then and now, and ask about the functions that a city must fulfil. Before starting to build we divide the city into different zones such as industrial zone, residential district, city centre, periphery etc. and consider what buildings (town hall, residential high-rise, museum, industrial building, bridges …) are needed in our city and where they should be located. Then, with the support of the Az W architecture educationalists, construction work can start.
