Temporary structures shape our cities—often unnoticed, yet indispensable. Scaffolding, barriers, weather shelters, containers, wayfinding systems, and makeshift structures keep urban processes running and form a fleeting, technical layer of our built environment.
As part of the exhibition “Temporary. Structures of Necessity,” the Architekturzentrum Wien invites you to submit photographic works that bring such temporary architectures and infrastructures to light.
How to Participate:
Post your photo or photos on Instagram between Wed, Aug. 26 and Wed, Oct. 7, 2026, using the hashtag #AzWTemporär and tagging architekturzentrum_wien
A selection of the submissions will be presented at the Az W during the exhibition. The winning photo will be displayed for two days on approximately 4,900 INFOSCREENs in public transportation and their access areas throughout Austria!
Jury and partners: INFOSCREEN and KOERNOE
