These holdings exemplify how Austrian architectural history was not only reconstructed but also actively written and interpreted.

The holdings of leading Austrian architectural theorists such as Friedrich Achleitner, Renate Banik-Schweitzer, Günther Feuerstein, Eduard Sekler, and Walter Zschokke document significant contributions to architectural theory, criticism, research, and teaching since the second half of the twentieth century. These holdings include manuscripts, correspondence, lecture notes, publications, and materials relating to research and exhibition activities.
These holdings exemplify how Austrian architectural history was not only reconstructed but also actively written and interpreted—and what standards were set for understanding architecture, space, the city, and society. Many of these positions continue to shape the discipline’s self-understanding and influence current issues in theory, research, and teaching, as well as offer insights into networks, publications, research processes, and international architectural debates.
